You know how else I know there’s huge similarities between Google+ and Facebook? By looking at it. With my eyes. No study needed.
Google+ is a cheap Facebook knockoff. They copied the overall layout and design and uglied up the pixels. How is it news that they have the same eye fixation patterns?
